Judges List Qualifications

Brief outline of Lists

List A1

Judges whom the German Shorthaired Pointer Club would support and who have previously been approved by the Kennel Club to award Challenge Certificates in the breed.

List A2

Judges who fulfil all the requirements for the A3 list and who have been assessed in accordance with the Kennel Club requirements.

List A3

Judges whom the German Shorthaired Pointer Club would support to award Challenge Certificates but, who as yet, have not been approved by the Kennel Club.

List B

Judges whom the German Shorthaired Pointer Club would support to judge the breed without Challenge Certificates.

List C

Judges whom the German Shorthaired Pointer Club would support to start a judging career in the breed.

Judges lists are compiled by the Show Committee of the German Shorthaired Pointer Club giving due cognizance to:-

  1. Number and type of shows judged
  2. Number of years over which judging experience is spread
  3. Number of dogs actually judged, as opposed to number of entries received
  4. General judging experience in breeds other than German Shorthaired Pointers
  5. Inclusion in the KC Stud Book
  6. German Shorthaired Pointer Club Seminars attended
  7. Stewarding engagements

SECTION 1 – BREED SPECIALISTS

It is emphasised that the following criteria is to be regarded as the absolute minimum and inclusion on the various lists is at the discretion of the German Shorthaired Pointer Club Show Committee

Requirements for inclusion are:-

List A1 (Breed Specialists)

For people who have previously been approved by The Kennel Club to award CCs in the breed, have completed their first appointment and have the support of the German Shorthaired Pointer Club.

List A2 (Breed Specialists)

For people who fulfil all the requirements for the A3 list, who have been assessed in accordance with Kennel Club requirements and accepted by The Kennel Club for inclusion on an A2 list and have the support of The German Shorthaired Pointer Club.

List A3 (Breed Specialists)

  1. Minimum of seven years judging experience in the breed and have the support of the German Shorthaired Pointer
  2. To have judged the breed at a minimum of 10 Open Shows or Championship Shows without CCs with an adequate geographical
  3. To have judged a minimum of 50 classes
  4. To have judged a minimum of 110
  5. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer, and passed the relevant examination of Kennel Club Regulations and Judging As of 01-07-2001
  6. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on Conformation and As of 01-07-2001
  7. To have attended a Conformation & Movement “Hands-on Assessment” conducted by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the As of 01-07-2005
  8. To have attended at least one breed specific seminar in the last 7 years run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable. As of 01-07-2001
  9. To have attended an Open Field Trial (FT) or an Open Gundog Working Test (GWT) for the relevant Sub Group for this Breed.
  10. To have bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained their first entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book (Save in exceptional circumstances).
  11. To have stewarded at 12
  12. The Club would look favourably upon individuals who have judged a breed club open

List B (Breed Specialists)

  1. To have five years experience owning and exhibiting a German Shorthaired Pointer and have the support of the German Shorthaired Pointer
  2. To have judged a minimum of four Open shows over a period of 5
  3. To have judged a minimum of 12 classes of the breed at open shows or championship shows without
  4. To have judged a minimum of 45 dogs of this breed, with a good geographical
  5. To have attended at least one breed specific judging seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable. As of 01-07-2001

List C Breed Specialist)

For aspirant judges within the breed who have the support of the German Shorthaired Pointer Club.

SECTION 2 – NON BREED SPECIALISTS

It is emphasised that the following criteria is to be regarded as the absolute minimum and inclusion on the various lists is at the discretion of the German Shorthaired Pointer Club Show Committee.

Requirements for inclusion are:-

List A1 (Non Breed Specialists)

For persons who have previously been approved by The Kennel Club to award CCs in the breed and have completed their first appointment. To have the support of the German Shorthaired Pointer Club.

List A2 (Non Breed Specialists)

For persons who fulfil all the requirements for the A3 list and who have been assessed in accordance with the Kennel Club requirements and accepted by The Kennel Club for inclusion on an A2 list and have the support of the German Shorthaired Pointer Club.

List A3 (Non Breed Specialists)

  1. To have a minimum of seven years judging experience in any one breed (to include five years in this breed) and have the support of the German Shorthaired Pointer Club
  2. The Club would look favourably upon individuals who have judged a German Shorthaired Pointer breed Club Open
  3. To have judged the breed at a minimum of 10 Open Shows or Championship Shows without CCs with an adequate geographical
  4. To have judged a minimum of 50
  5. To have judged at least 120 dogs in this
  6. To have awarded CCs in at least one other
  7. To have attended at least one breed specific seminar in the last seven years run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable. As of 01-07-2001
  8. To have attended an Open Field Trial (FT) or an Open Gundog Working Test (GWT) for the relevant Sub Group for this breed. Note If this breed is in a different sub group to a previously approved CC breed, it is preferable that a FT or GWT is attended and will be looked upon favourably by the German Shorthaired Pointer
  9. To have bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs of any breed when they obtained their first entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book (Save in exceptional circumstances).

List B (Non Breed Specialists)

  1. To have a minimum of 7 years judging experience in any one breed and have the support of the German Shorthaired Pointer Club
  2. To have judged a minimum of 5 Open shows
  3. To have judged at least 20 classes, of this breed at Open or Championship Shows without
  4. To have judged at least 55 dogs of this
  5. To have attended at least one breed specific judging seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable. As of 01-07-2001

List C (Non Breed Specialists)

For aspirant judges who have shown an interest in the breed, and have the support of The German Shorthaired Pointer Club.

Note will be taken of prospective judges showing interest in the breed.
