German Shorthaired Pointer Club Shows

The German Shorthaired Pointer Club hold three shows a year. These consist of an Open Show in April, a Championship Show in July and second Open Show in October. The Club attempts to spread the shows around the country, without going too far off the beaten track, allowing everyone the opportunity to attend at least one of them. The Championship Show tends to be in the North of the Midlands, whereas the Open Shows are usually one in the north and one in the south.

Although the shows are run to a very high standard, the atmosphere tends to be relaxed and friendly. At the Championship Show the entry is higher allowing new members or prospective GSP owners to view many different lines of GSP and speak to their breeders. If you are a little unsure of where to go for your future show dog or need help with the training, this is usually the place to be.

All of our shows have placings from 1st to 5th (Very Highly Commended) with Prize cards and rosettes for each award along with special rosettes for Best in Show, Reserve Best in Show, Best Opposite Sex, Best Puppy in Show and Best Veteran in Show. For members of the GSPC there are also trophies to be won for almost each class along with Best in Show etc., which are held for one year. A list of trophies for each show can be found below.Cups

prizesWe also have a superb, pre drawn raffle at each show, so no hanging around waiting for your ticket to be drawn, you know when you buy open your tickets whether you are a winner or not. We have some brilliant prizes on our raffle, well worth having a go!

The GSPC merchandise is always on show and for sale at all the shows, so you can actually see the items featured on the website. We always strive to find new things for you to buy from £1.00 upwards and all high quality, good value items from a simple badge, dummies and whistles to books and limited edition prints.

The ‘piéce de résistance’ at the Open shows has got to be the catering! Extremely cheap, all lovingly prepared, delicious food from bacon sandwiches to home-made cakes, with lots in-between. No need for a packed lunch, what could be better than a freshly cooked breakfast and lunch amongst friends.

Schedules for all the shows are usually distributed to showing members along with the Newsletter. All members and non members need to keep their eye on the facebook page, website, dog press and enter on-line or telephone the Show Secretary to obtain one and enter via post.

All the shows held by the GSPC are open to both members and non members, however, members do get reduced entry fees and of course the Cups and Trophies are only available to members.

If you need any help or advice regarding the shows don’t hesitate to contact the Show Secretary or a member of the Show Committee – that’s what they are there for!
